Young, called, and chosen by God
I Pet. 2:8-9
Children and young people are precious in the sight of God.
Jesus said to his disciples allow the little children to come unto me, for such is the kingdom of heaven.
All of God’s creation is special, but children hold a special place in the heart of God.
Children are God’s most valuable resource; they have the potential to be great and do great things for the Lord.
The Bible emphasizes their immense value, their spiritual receptivity.
Young people today need to understand what God has for you no one else can provide.
Eph. 2:10, “For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Jer. 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you an expected end.”
Called and chosen by God suggest value and importance in God’s plan for the human race.
God’s plan is to save people from going to burning hell and welcome them into beautiful heaven.
God needs young people to reach young people with the message of salvation.
I Peter 2:9 clearly depicts what we are called and chosen for.
God’s desire is to use young people mightily to evangelize your family and friends.
God's desire is that young people use their energy to praise and worship Him in the sanctuary.
God’s desire is for young people to follow Him through discipleship, ministry, and fellowship.

- God called you a royal priesthood- vs. 9b
- God called you a holy nation- vs. 9c
- God called you a peculiar people- vs. 9d
- God called you to praise Him- vs. 9e

- God chose to save you before you were born.
- Jer. 1:5, “Before I formed the in the belly I knew thee and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee."
- God chose you to make a difference in this present age.
- God chose you to be a trend setter, not a trend follower.
- God chose to adopt you into His family.
- You have an inheritance that fades not away
- You are an heir of God, joint heir with Christ.
- God called you a royal priesthood- vs. 9b
- You are a part of a royal family.
- You are sons and daughters of the King of kings, Jesus the Christ.
- Rev. 1:6, “And hath made us kings and priest unto God,”
- You have direct access to God
- 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, you have an open door that will never close.
- You have the dignity of a king and the sanctity of priests.
- Young people, you are somebody in the eyes of God
- God called you a holy nation- vs. 9c
- You are a consecrated people unto God.
- You are sanctified, set apart for God’s use only.
- God made you holy and set you apart, when Jesus hung, bled, and died and rose early the third day morning, declaring all power in heaven and earth is in my hand.
- You are holy because God indwelled you with His Holy Spirit,
- I John 2:20, “But you have the anointing from the holy one.”
- Vs. 27, “But the anointing which you have received of him abides in you."
- God called you a peculiar people- vs. 9d
- Peculiar indicates a special possession of God
- You are like precious gold and silver to God
- Peculiar also means you are different from the world.
- You are different from people who don’t know Jesus as their savior.
- We live in the world, but we are not of the world.
- The King’s children don’t wallow in the mud of sin and disgrace.
- There are things we don’t do, some places we don’t go, and the reason, we are God’s special possession.
- Peculiar means we are unique, unlike anything and everything that is not like God.
- God called you to praise Him- 9e
“Shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into the marvelous light.”
Praise is an expression of inward thankfulness expressed outwardly.
- A habit of worship
- A habit of ministry
- A habit of evangelism
- A habit of fellowship
- A habit of discipleship
- Praise is an action word; it requires doing something.
- Praise is to speak well of, to boast, to brag on God.
- Praise is an act of ministry to God and evangelism to the world.
- Psalm 134:2, “Lift your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord.”

Show forth the praises of Him wherever you are!
God is worthy to be praised! He has done great things for you and me.
