Serving in fellowship for the glory of God
Phil. 1:27
God has given assignments to people to carry out his plan for the New Testament church.
The pastor/ teacher is called by God and assigned by God to give spiritual leadership to his Church. (I Timothy 3:1-8) (Acts 20:28)
God charged the pastor a along with the church to chose men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost, and wisdom to serve tables, that the pastor could devote himself to prayer and the ministry of the word.
This is God’s ordained plan to grow his church, spiritually, numerically and financially.
But for this to happen, there must be a cooperative spirit to lead and follow God’s word.
The deacons are the serving office in the church.
The Greek word deacon is diakonosmeaning literally to serve.
Not to serve in just counting money and serving communion.
But serving the body of Christ in fellowship for the glory of God.
Fellowship with God is fellowship with the pastor and the people.
The deacon and deaconess ministry has high standards and godly expectation. The deacons and deaconess are to serve alongside the pastor executing the godly vision given to the church.
A spiritually healthy church where Christ is seen and heard.
Paul speaks to the Philippians church, especially the leadership emphasizes fellowship being a major key factor to spiritual growth.
Fellowship occurs when Christians are loving, serving and sharing life together for the glory of God.
Deacons and deaconess serving in fellowship for the glory of God.
I Timothy 3:13, “For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
