A godly father leads his family to God
Josh. 24:14-15
Father’s Day is a specific day to honor fathers as the bible has so clearly commanded
Old Testament Exod. 20:12, “Honour thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth.”
New Testament, Eph 6:2, “Honour thy father and mother which is the first commandment with promise.”
Living the best in Christ requires honoring your father and mother.
Honor thy father contextually is a commandment to respect, to place high value and provide practical care and support as parents grow older.
To honor thy father is not just words but actions, helping your father when they need help due to age or health.
The Bible does not qualify honoring fathers based on they being a good father, God just commands us to honor they father.
What does society see as a good father, most would say, one who takes care of children through providing housing, food and clothing.
But I believe a good father according to the Bible is one who leads his family to God.
God will judge fathers on how they parented their children.
Food, clothing and housing are a necessity, but they are temporary.
But the soul is everlasting, meaning they will live forever either in heaven or in hell, a godly father will do all he can to make sure his children live in heaven with the Savior.
A godly father leads his family to God
Brothers God has commanded us to lead our families to God.
There is a reason why God made Adam first and gave him Eve to lead her and their children to God.
A godly father is the spiritual leader of the family.
Joshua made a choice to serve the LORD and lead his wife and children to serve God too.
Well, we may not have an earthly father to do all of that, but we do have a heavenly Father who gave us his word and His Spirit to lead us closer to HIM.
We have the written word and the Living WORD!
He is our Father who looks over us day and night!
