A faithful Mother is like Christ

Exo. 2:1-4

The Bible teaches and commands us to honor our mothers.

Exo. 20:12, “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”

There is a blessing from God to those who honor their mother.

The blessing is that God will make your life more sweeter than bitter.

The bible says honour all mothers, but I think faithful mothers, those who are faithful to God, to their husband and children.

Faithful mothers are like God in many aspects, which is seen in their love for God and family.

Faithful mothers are lovers of God and family at the highest level.

Jochebed is a faithful mother, she is faithful to God and her family.

Because of her faithfulness to God, she was blessed to give birth and raise three famous people in the Bible.

Numbers 26:59, “And the name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed the daughter of Levi, whom her mother bare unto Amram Aaron and Moses and Miriam their sister."

  • Aaron went on to be the first priest of the Levitical order.
  • Moses is the deliverer and law giver.
  • Miriam was called a prophetess.
Listen, if your mother is or was a faithful mother to God first and then family, she deserves special honor.

The best way to honor a faithful mother is to be faithful to God and trust Him with your life and your children.

I thank God for faithful mothers, whose faith can be seen and heard.

I thank God for faithful mothers, who will put their life on the line to save their children.

I thank God for faithful mothers who bring their children up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

Mother’s Day is not sad for me, it’s a time to gather in the house of the Lord to thank God for my faithful mother.

  1. A faithful mother is a courageous woman- vs. 1-2a.

“And there went a man of the house of Levi and took to wife a daughter of Levi. And the woman conceived and bare a son.”

  1. She is courageous because she is equally yoked.
  • To be unequally yoke is to marry someone who is not a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • It takes courage to say I am saved and looking for a saved man.
  1. The mother is courageous because she gets pregnant at a time not to get pregnant.
  • Exo.. 1:16, “And he said, when ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter then shall she live.”
  1. She embraces motherhood when there are deadly consequences for her and the child.

  1. A faithful mother sees the potential in her child- vs. 2b.

“And when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.”

  1. A mother who has faith in God always sees the potential of greatness in her child.
  2. Her sight of the child’s potential is not that the child can do all things, but that God will do great things in and through the child.
  • Saw is the Hebrew word ra’ah with a connotation of to perceive or regard.

  1. She took what she had and made an ark and placed her baby boy into the ark.
  • I know she got the weeds from the river, and the tar and mortar from her house to make the ark.
  • Though she put her baby in the ark but in reality, she put her child in God’s hand.
  1. A faith mother will trust God with her children.

Listen, we need to love God and trust God enough to give Him our children.

A faithful mother will not turn her children over to the world.

  3. Jochebed nor Miriam did not know what God was going to do, but they decided to trust and watch Him at work.

Jochebed knew this hymn before the hymnologist penned it, I serve a risen savior he is in the world today, I know that he is living whatever men may say. I see his hand of mercy, I hear his voice of cheer and just when I need him, he’s always near.
