A chosen generation to bring glory to God
1 Peter 2:9
To be chosen of God is the highest honor a human being can experience.
Young people, I am sure that there are a lot of things, people, and groups that you feel have chosen you to be a part of.
But none compares to being chosen by God, who chose you before you were even born.
Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee and ordained thee…”
You have been chosen by God to bring glory to God, not this world’s system, which consists of social media, Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram.
We bring glory to God by becoming like Christ, through worship, ministry, evangelism, fellowship, and discipleship.
God called you and chose you before you were born to become like Jesus
Jer. 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you saith the LORD, thoughts of peace and not evil to give you an expected end.”
Understanding how God made you and why God made you is the path to living the best life.
That is why Peter says, You are a chosen generation!
God chose you to become like Christ because:
I Pet. 2:9, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
Young people, you are called into a unique fellowship with God, a special relationship, where God wants to live his life through your life.
I. Being a royal priesthood brings glory to God
III. Being a peculiar nation brings glory to God
It was not the marching and sit-ins that our ancestors did, but the blood of Jesus
The blood that Jesus shed for me way back on Calvary. The blood that gives me strength from day to day; it will never lose its power.
It reaches to the highest mountain, it flows to the lowest valley, the blood that gives me strength from day to day.
It will never lose its power; it will never lose its power!!
IV. Being a praiser to almighty God
I Pet. 2:9, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

Understanding how God made you and why God made you is the path to living the best life.
That is why Peter says, You are a chosen generation!
- Chosen, a royal priesthood
- Chosen, a holy nation
- Chosen, a peculiar nation
- Chosen to proclaim praises to God
God chose you to become like Christ because:
- He thought you were worth saving.
- He thought you were worth keeping.
- He thought you were to die for.
- Bringing glory to God is being like Christ.
- We are like Christ in the sense of royalty.
- Jesus is the King of kings
- We are called princes, kings, and queens
- We have direct access to God, which makes us like Christ.
- Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father
- We are in the bosom of the Son
- You are not who CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX, or BET says you are.
II. Being a holy nation brings glory to God.
- Holy is the Greek word hagios, meaning consecrated and set apart
- Hagios ethnos are a holy people
- Being holy makes us like Christ.
- Being holy is not being perfect, but it is being set apart for God’s use only
- Young people, we are separated from the world and separated unto God
III. Being a peculiar nation brings glory to God
Peculiar means a purchase possession.
- Belonging to God makes us like Christ
- Jesus is the only begotten of the Father.
- We are the only purchased possession of the Father
- Young people, we have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus
- Agorazo, we have been purchased in the marketplace
- Ekagorazo, we have been purchased and taken out of the marketplace
- Lutroo, we have been purchased and given freedom forever
It was not the marching and sit-ins that our ancestors did, but the blood of Jesus
The blood that Jesus shed for me way back on Calvary. The blood that gives me strength from day to day; it will never lose its power.

IV. Being a praiser to almighty God
“That ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
- Our response to all that God has done is to praise Him.
- Now every time praising is going up, worship shows up.
- We can’t praise him without worshipping, and we can’t worship without praising Him
- To show forth the praises of him is to be seen and heard talking about the goodness of God.
- God made us to praise and worship his holy name.
- God gave you everything you have, your gifts, talents, abilities for sports, dance, and cheer.
- Young people, if you want to be like Christ, praise God for giving Jesus to us.
I Pet. 2:9, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
