Jesus in the house makes the difference for evangelism

I.Jesus in the house is motivation to bring people to Jesus- vs. 1
a.A rumor worth spreading
b.Indirect evangelism is when you are talking about Jesus and don’t realize you are witnessing
c.If we can spread gossip then we can spread the gospel
II.People are drawn by the person of Christ and the word of God- vs. 2
Preached is laleo to articulate understandable words
Word is logos the intelligent expression of God
a.The presence of Jesus is the magnet that draws people to God
b.The word of God is the attention getter of people
c.Preaching the word of God fills the house of God
d.The excitement of Jesus and the going forth of the word is the reason sinners come to God
III.Evangelism team bringing a sinner to Jesus- vs. 3-4
“And they come unto him bringing one sick of the palsy which was born of four.”
“And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.”
a.Evangelism requires fellowshipping in partnership
b.Evangelism is caring enough about people to bring them to Jesus
c.Evangelism involves out of the box thinking
“They uncovered the roof and let the lame man down in front of Jesus’ teaching and preaching ministry”
d.Evangelism requires commitment and dedication
e.Evangelism requires faith in God
IV.Faith moves God to dispense grace and mercy- vs. 5
“When Jesus saw their faith he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.”

Faith is pistis mean to believe, to trust
a.Faith of the evangelism team moved God not the man paralyze
b.Evangelism requires believing that God is able to help sinners and saints
V.Jesus deals with the skeptics of who He is- vs. 6-9
a.Skeptic have faulty thinking- vs.6
b.Skeptic are doubter in the work of God- vs. 7
c.Jesus knows what doubter are thinking even before they say it- vs.8
d.Jesus challenges the thoughts of the skeptics
“Is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say arise and take up thy bed, and walk?”- vs. 9
Notice the man is spiritually saved but not physically healed!
  1. He is still paralyzed lying in his bed
VI.Jesus proves who He is by doing what only God can do- vs. 10-12
“But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (He saith to the sick of the palsy)
“I say unto thee arise and take up thy bed and go thy way into thine house”
a.Evangelism is making God known where he is not known
“That ye may know”
b.Evangelism with salvation reveals the power of God to save sinner and heal sickness
c.Jesus has power over sickness and sin
d.The evangelism team brings this man to Jesus, and Jesus does what only God can do
Look at God and evangelism at work!!!
“And immediately he arose took up the bed and went forth before them all: insomuch that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying we never saw it on this fashion.”

  2. Everyone in the house and outside the house saw what God did
