Worship is all about God
2 Chronicles 7:1-3

I.Prayer invokes God’s presence for worship – vs. 1
  1. God desire worship but He also requires an invitation
  1. We invite God through praise (Psalm 22:3)
  2. We invite God through prayer
  3. We need God for Worship and we ask God for what we need through prayer
  4. Prayer to God from the house of God, gets God’s attention
“Now when Solomon had made an end of praying”
  1. Prayer in worship is a spiritual summons for God
II.God responds to our prayer in worship- vs. 1b
“The fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.”
Fire is a symbol of the Holy Spirit/ supernatural fire (theophany)
  1. Worship brings heaven down to earth
  2. Worship requires giving to God all that we are and all that we have
  3. God accepts our worship when it is from the heart
    1. Consuming the burnt offering and the sacrifices indicates God is pleased with the gift in worship
  4. Worship is when the glory of the LORD fill the house
    1. Glory is kabod to be heavy, impressive, the excellence and perfection of the divine nature
    2. LORD is Jehovah the Self-Existent Eternal One
    3. Filled is mala (maw-lay) full, have wholly
Figuratively and metaphorically the fullness of God occupied and controlled the house
  1. When worship take place God is in charged
III.Worship is all about God- vs.2
“And the priest could not enter the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD’S house”
  1. The presence of God overwhelms the human’s frailty
  2. Worship can’t be about human personalities because it is about divinity
  3. The priest could not enter the house of worship indicates a number of things
1.Worship is all about God not about us
2.Worship is God focused not man focused
3.There is no room for man’s agenda in worship
4.Worship is about doing what pleases God not ourselves
IV.Our response to God’s presence is worship- vs. 3a
“And when all the children of Israel saw how fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement and worshiped and praised the LORD”
  1. Worship helps us to really see God and causes us to see our selves
  1. They saw the fire come down from heaven
  2. They saw the glory of God fill the house
  3. Worship humbles us before God
“They bowed themselves with their faces to the ground”
  1. Worship is to adore God in the beauty of His holiness
  2. Worship is always accompanied by praise
  1. Worship is to inwardly experience God
  2. Praise is an outward expression to God’s goodness
V.We have good reasons to worship God- vs. 3b
a.The LORD is good
  1. Good is  the Heb. word tobe beneficial good
  2. God is intrinsically good
  3. God is inherently good
  4. God is good all the time and all the time God is good
b.The LORD’S mercy endures for ever
  1. Mercy is the Heb. word chesed means loving kindness
  2. Mercy is God not giving me what I deserve but giving me what I need
  3. Mercy is endless and inexhaustible
