Living in God’s purpose of fellowship by faith
Genesis 5:22-24

Gen 1:26a, “And God said let us make man in our image after our likeness”
God made, equipped, and planned us for fellowship
 
Gen. 5:3, “And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years and begat a son in his own likeness after his image and called his name Seth
 
Made in the image of God refers to mankind spiritual resemblance of God, morally and rationally.
 
Faith and fellowship is God designed to make us more like him
 
Enoch lived a life of fellowship by faith with God
 
Fellowship does not just happen; people don’t just wake up loving God and loving people
 
Fellowship requires faith in God and faith to trust God
  1. Enoch chose to walk with God- vs.22-23
“And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years and begat sons and daughters”
  1. Fellowship is a choice we make
  1. God will not make us walk with him
  1. Walking with God is more than a physical walk
  2. Walking with God is a spiritual act of growing mature in Christ
  3. Walking with God is a marathon walk
  4. Walking with God is sometimes seen in longevity- vs 23
  1. Adam lived 930 years and pass on faith and fellowship with God
  1. Enoch fellowship with God by faith- vs. 24
“And Enoch walked with God and he was not; for God took him”
  1. To walk with God is to experience intimate fellowship
  1. Walked is Heb. halak means to live and denotes intimacy, fellowship, being one
  1. To walk with God is to be close to God
  1. With is the Heb. word et (atha) nearness
  2. Nearer to God closer to God is to walk with God
  1. Enoch walk with God is intimate fellowship with God
  1. Walking in fellowship with God is loving God and loving people
  2. I John 3:11, “For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning that we should love one another”
  3. Walking in fellowship with God is summed up in the great commandment, loving God with all your heart and loving your neighbor as yourself
  1. Intimate fellowship with God opens the door for blessing from God- vs. 24
“And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him”
  1. He was not found any more on earth
  2. He walked so close with God that God took him home with him
  3. Heb. 11:5, “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death and was not found, because God had translated him for before his translation he had this testimony that he pleased God.”
  4. God took him because of faith and fellowship God took him from earth to heaven without dying
  1. Fellowship with God and man requires faith
  1. Heb. 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please him for he that comes to God must believe that he is and that he is s rewarder of them that diligently seek him”
