Focusing on our greatest need

John 3:16

Our theme focusing on Christ to become more like Christ is for the whole church

Our topic today is for the whole church

Focusing on our greatest need is universal because all of us need this need

Age, gender, race, wealthy or poor

We all need Jesus in our lives and those of us who would declare that I have Jesus in my life we all need more of Him

We may not realize we need more of him but we do

Focusing on Christ may be much harder for young people than seasoned people

Satan the world and flesh works day and night to convince the young and old alike that you don’t need God in your life

But God knows what we need and when we need it

The greatest needs of human being are love and acceptance

God provides both abundantly

Solomon the wises man to ever live commands the young in Ecclesiastes 12:1, “Remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil says come not, nor the years draw nigh when thou shall say I have no pleasure in them should not perish but have ever lasting"

We need to give our heart, soul, mind and body to God now because that is where our greatest need is met

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him”

Focusing on our greatest need

I.     Unimaginable love given to us!
II.    Unimaginable grace given to us!
III.   Unimaginable place given to us!

Young people I know that your life is not easy with so many choices and decisions to make

The world and all that it has to offer is attractive and enticing

Satan is wise, crafty and a great deceiver

Satan was able to convince a third of the angelic host to follow him and leave heaven

Satan was able to convince Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit which caused her and Adam to be cast out of the Garden of Eden

And in both cases, he was able to convince them that they did not need God

So don’t let Satan, the world, and the flesh cause you to miss your greatest need from being fulfilled

I.    Unimaginable love given to us!
“For God so loved the word”
       a.  Love is what matters most in life
  • Everyone young and old alike wants to be love
  • Everyone need to be loved
       b.  God’s love for you and me is uncommon love
       c.  God’s love for you and me is unimaginable love
  • Unimaginable love is a love you and I did not think was possible
  • No one can love us like God loves us
Love is agapao the verb form of agape

Agape is unconditional love, unwavering love, divine love

For God so loved the world is unmeasurable love

We are to focus on God’s love because God’s love is so tall you can’t get over it, so wide you can’t get around it, so low you can’t get under it

2ndly we are to focus on our greatest need…

II.    Unimaginable grace given to us!
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten God”
       a.  Grace is defined as unmerited favor, when God gives us what we don’t deserve
       b.  Grace is God giving us his love
       c.  Grace is God giving us his unspeakable gift
       d.  Grace is God’s favor upon our lives
       e.  Grace is God given us our greatest need
  • Jesus is our greatest need
  • Jesus provides grace for salvation and grace for living
John 1 :17, “For the law was given by Moses but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ"

God grace is unimaginable but who would have ever thought that God would or could forgive me for all of my sins

My sin was so great that I was covered up and drowning in my sin but Jesus through grace rescued me

The hymn writer said, I was sinking deep in sin very deeply stained withing sinking to rise no more but the master of the sea heard my despairing cry and from the water lifted me now safe am I. Love lifted me through grace

3rdly we are to focus on our greatest need…

III.   Unimaginable place given to us!
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believed in him should not perish but have everlasting life”

       a.  We all are going to need a place one day I know this may be difficult for the young children to process
       b.  The Bible teaches that this place is not our home we are pilgrims passing through
       c.  John the 14 chapter says I am going away to prepare a place for you and where I am you may be there also
       d.  The unimaginable place is heaven
       e.  Its unimaginable because there is no sickness there, no dying, no hurt, no suffering, no fear
       f.  Heaven is a free gift given by God
  • Believing on Jesus is the way to receive this gift
  • Believe is to trust Jesus for salvation

Rom. 10:9, Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead thou shall be saved
