Exercising faith through praying
Giving in faith is giving with the right attitude and right motives- vs. 1-4
Warning about giving with the wrong motives- vs.1
Warning about giving with the wrong attitude- vs. 2
People of faith are expected to give- vs. 3
Giving in faith is giving to God- vs.4
Praying in faith is praying to God- vs.5-8
Praying in faith in not filled with pride- vs. 5
Praying in faith is concentrated to God- vs. 6
Praying in faith is not pagan in nature- vs. 7-8
Vain repetition is the Gr. battalogeo denotes babbling, speaking without thinking
Praying in faith is worship to God- vs. 9
“After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name
Worship is giving adoration to God
Prayer saturated with adoration and praise to God is powerful and effective
How a prayer is started dictates the effectiveness of the prayer
Prayer is proseuchomai (pros-you-ko-my) - pros means face to face with God
Our Father intimate relationship with God (Abba)
Father is the Gr. Word pater heavenly father
Hallowed is hagiazo means uncommon, set apart
 Praying in faith is praying for discipleship- vs. 10
 “Thy Kingdom come Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven”
Discipleship is making Jesus King of your life
Discipleship is making Jesus the center of your life
The petition in the prayer is asking Jesus to come and sit on the throne in your life and that’s discipleship
Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven
Well Jesus is King of kings in heaven
God’s will is that Jesus be Lord of your life
Praying in faith is praying for ministry- vs. 11
 “Give us this day our daily bread”
Ministry is meeting needs
God’s ministry to us is providing our physical needs to do his spiritual work
This petition for daily bread is designed to:
Help us to trust God day by day
To depend totally on him for all our needs
Praying in faith is to trust God to meet every need
Praying in faith is praying for fellowship- vs. 12
“And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors”
Fellowship is living in right relationships with God and people
Forgive us our debts which are our sins mend our relationship with God
We forgiving our debtors mends our relationship with people
Fellowship with God only exist when we are in loving relationship with God and man
Praying in faith leads to praising God- vs. 13
 “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever Amen”
The prayer is God leads us not into temptation
The prayer is God deliver us from the evil one (Satan)
Because everything is your God and I want to live for you and serve you
The doxology of praise and worship
For thine is the kingdom
For thine is the power
For thine is the glory, forever. Amen
