Discovery Youth and Children's Ministry

Our youth and children are very important to God and to us, the Bible states, “But Jesus called them unto him, and said, suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for such is the kingdom of God.”  (Luke 18:16).  Our goal is to develop and nurture Christ like character in the lives of our young people. They are an important aspect of the life of the Greater Hopewell church family. Therefore, this ministry is undergirded with a Bible base and Christ centered ministry called Discovery.
Discovery ministry is divided into two parts, Teen Discovery and Discovery Bible Clubs. The Teen Discovery is for ages 13-19. This ministry is designed to have sixteen weekly meeting during both the fall and spring semester. As an incentive, each student has the opportunity to accumulate points for class participation, memorizing bible verses, taking sermon notes, bringing guest, participating in Sunday school and other church activities. They are rewarded with monetary gifts and trips for excelling in this ministry at the end of the semesters.
Discovery Bible clubs are for ages 3 through 12 they are broken down into four groups: helpers ages 4-6, watchman’s 1st and 2nd grades, warrior 3rd and 4th grades, and champions 5th and 6th grades. There are three main sessions during weekly Bible Clubs meeting: Assembly time, club time and game time. After the sessions refreshments are served and the children engage in fun activities. There are payoffs for the children at the end of the semester. Bible clubs is designed to prepare the children for the next steps in the growth and development of the believers in the life of the church.
